New Tax Head Says She Knows Why Italians Don't Pay Taxes: They're Catholic

Rossella Orlandi, newly appointed head of Italy's Agenzia della Entrate, says she knows why Italy has such a dismal tax compliance rate: Italians are Catholic. Later calling her statements a joke, Orlandi took heat from the Catholic Church from saying that Italians assuming they can rely on absolution to get away with tax evasion.
