History - Benicia, California
Benicia was the State Capital for 13 months before the legislature moved the capital to Sacramento. The building is now a State Park and a historic landmark open for tours. Benicia was home to a military Arsenal, which supplied weapons to U.S. troops in battles and wars beginning in 1849.

Benicia, California - Wikipedia
Benicia (/ b ə ˈ n iː ʃ ə / bə-NEE-shə, Spanish:) is a city in Solano County, California, located on the north bank of the Carquinez Strait in the North Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area. It served as the capital of California for nearly thirteen months from 1853 to 1854. The population was 26,997 at the 2010 United States Census.
