Black Moses (album) - Wikipedia
Black Moses is the fifth studio album by American soul musician Isaac Hayes. It is a double album released on Stax Records' Enterprise label in 1971. The follow-up to Hayes' successful soundtrack for Shaft (also a double album), Black Moses features Hayes' version of The Jackson 5's hit single "Never Can Say Goodbye".

He won an "Academy Award for Best Original Song" for the "Theme from Shaft ", and in addition was nominated for Best Original Dramatic Score. Later in the year, Hayes released a double album, Black Moses, that expanded on his earlier sounds and featured The Jackson 5 's song "Never Can Say Goodbye".

In his youth he was the slave of an important man, but after he committed a murder, his master banished him, and he joined a band of robbers.
