Clementi's life and work
Clementi's visionary work and success as a promoter of the piano throughout his 50 years of career as performer, composer, publisher, teacher, arranger, and instrument maker, brought him the honour of being called the 'father of the pianoforte'. He was buried in Westminster Abbey (see below).

Muzio Clementi (born Jan. 23, 1752, Rome, Papal States [Italy]—died March 10, 1832, Evesham, Worcestershire, Eng.) was an Italian-born British pianist and composer whose studies and sonatas developed the techniques of the early piano to such an extent that he was called “the father of the piano.”
