Old Fort House Museum - Town of Fort Edward
The Old Fort House Museum is open 1:00-5:00 p.m., last tour beginning at 4:00 p.m. daily, June-August. It is closed on Mondays in September and October up to Columbus Day. Admission is $10.00 per person some discounts may apply.

The History of Fort Edward. In 1700, the area known today as Fort Edward was still wilderness. Prior to the construction of any forts, the area was known by the old Indian name Wahcoloosencoochaleva or the “Great Carrying Place.” At this point on the Hudson River with rapids and falls, further travel by water to the north was not possible.

Village History - Village of Fort Edward
The Village of Fort Edward is located on the East bank of the Hudson River, approximately fifty miles north of Albany, NY. The place receives its name from the French and Indian War fortification that was erected in 1755, named by William Johnson of Johnstown, New York.
