Initialization - cppreference.com
struct initialization for the initialization of struct and union types. Implicit initialization. If an initializer is not provided: objects with automatic storage duration are initialized to indeterminate values (which may be trap representations) objects with static and thread-local storage duration are empty-initialized Empty initialization
Value-initialization - cppreference.com
The syntax T object(); does not initialize an object; it declares a function that takes no arguments and returns T. The way to value-initialize a named variable before C++11 was T object = T();, which value-initializes a temporary and then copy-initializes the object: most compilers optimize out the copy in this case.
Differences Between Definition, Declaration, and Initialization - Baeldung
In a statically typed language, initialization and definition can be separate steps but can happen at the same time. For example: int x; x = 5; int y = 5; In dynamically typed languages, we define a variable by initializing it since there are no explicit type declarations:
Initialization - cppreference.com
#include
std:: string s1; // default-initialization std:: string s2 (); // NOT an initialization! // actually declares a function “s2” // with no parameter and returns std::string std:: string s3 = "hello"; // copy-initialization std:: string s4 ("hello"); // direct-initialization std:: string s5 {'a'}; // list-initialization ...
What distinguishes the declaration, the definition and the ...
Initialization. Initialization refers to the "assignment" of a value, at construction time. For a generic object of type T, it's often in the form: T x = i; but in C++ it can be: T x(i); or even: T x {i}; with C++11. Conclusion. So does it mean definition equals declaration plus initialization? It depends. On what you are talking about.
