John Lane is professor of English and Environmental Studies at Wofford College. His books include Circling Home, My Paddle to the Sea, and Coyote Settles the South. He also coedited, with Gerald Thurmond, The Woods Stretched for Miles: New Nature Writing from the South.

Full time best-selling award winning Author and Speaker, John Lane is based in London by Battersea Park, just south of Chelsea Bridge. He generally commutes annually in the New Year to the Peruvian rainforest, and now has a second venture in the Andes in the village of Huanipaca at 10,000ft.

Lane, John | South Carolina Encyclopedia
Poet, environmentalist, educator. John Lane was born in Southern Pines, North Carolina, and he is currently a professor of English and environmental studies at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Lane is the author of nearly a dozen books of essays, poetry, and non-fiction, as well as the coeditor of five volumes of nature essays.
The Bodley Head - Wikipedia
Originally named Elkin Mathews and John Lane, The Bodley Head was a partnership set up in 1887 by booksellers Elkin Mathews and John Lane, initially to trade in antiquarian books in London. It took the name Bodley Head from a bust of Sir Thomas Bodley, the eponymist of the Bodleian Library in Oxford, above the shop door.
