Meron, Israel - Wikipedia
Meron (Hebrew: מֵירוֹן, Meron) is a moshav in northern Israel. Located on the slopes of Mount Meron in the Upper Galilee near Safed, it falls under the jurisdiction of Merom HaGalil Regional Council. Meron is most famous for the tomb of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, and is the site of annual mass public commemoration of Lag Ba'Omer.

Mount Meron (3,963 feet [1,208 metres]), Israel’s highest point in its pre-1967 boundaries, is 2 miles (3 km) northwest. Meron is mentioned in the History of the Jewish War (75−79) of Flavius Josephus. It is the site of the tomb of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, 2nd-century rabbinic teacher and legendary author of the Kabbalistic Zohar.
