msync () flushes changes made to the in-core copy of a file that was mapped into memory using mmap (2) back to disk.

What Does msync () Do? The msync() system call handles synchronizing modified memory mapped regions back to an open file on disk according to POSIX. This ensures crashes or power loss won‘t lead to inconsistent file contents between the disk copy and running program data structures.
