Planes is a 2013 theatrical spin-off of the 2006 Disney / Pixar animated film, Cars and its two sequels, Cars 2 (2011) and Cars 3 (2017), and the first film in the Planes duology. Pixar Animation Studios, the production team of the Cars movies, however, did not produce the film. Instead, it was produced by Disneytoon Studios.
