Rocky Flats Plant - Wikipedia
The Rocky Flats Plant was a U.S. manufacturing complex that produced nuclear weapons parts in the western United States, near Denver, Colorado. [2] . The facility's primary mission was the fabrication of plutonium pits, [3] which were shipped to other facilities to be assembled into nuclear weapons. [4] .

Rocky Flats is located between Golden and Boulder just east of Highway 93. In 1951 the US government started a major nuclear weapons factory center there. Its purpose was to process plutonium into metal and to make plutonium bomb cores. Rocky Flats was one of the Denver area’s largest employers.
