Romano Prodi OMRI (Italian: [roˈmaːno ˈprɔːdi] ⓘ; born 9 August 1939) is an Italian politician who served as President of the European Commission from 1999 to 2004 and twice as Prime Minister of Italy, from 1996 to 1998, and again 2006 to 2008.

Romano Prodi (born August 9, 1939, Scandiano, Italy) is an Italian politician who was twice prime minister of Italy (1996–98; 2006–08) and who served as president of the European Commission (1999–2004). Prodi graduated from Catholic University in Milan in 1961 and did postdoctoral work at the London School of Economics.
