Skokie, Illinois - Wikipedia
Skokie (/ ˈ s k oʊ k i /; formerly Niles Center) is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. According to the 2020 census, its population was 67,824. Skokie lies approximately 15 miles (24 km) north of Chicago's downtown Loop. The name Skokie comes from a Potawatomi word for "marsh".

Skokie was a political flash point in the 1970s, when the neo-Nazi National Socialist Party of America won court approval to hold a demonstration in the village, which has traditionally been home to a large Jewish population (including many Holocaust survivors).
