History of Whitney Point, NY
History of Whitney Point, NY. The Village of Whitney Point is nestled at the confluence of the Tioughnioga and Otselic Rivers in northern Broome county in the state of New York. The first settlers, General John Paterson and his family, came here from Lennox, Mass in 1791.

The Village of Whitney Point is located in the Town of Triangle in northern Broome County. The village lies at the confluence of the Tioughnioga and Otselic Rivers. Native Americans of the Iroquois Confederacy once used these rivers as highways through the region.

Whitney Point is a village in Broome County, New York, United States. The population was 964 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Binghamton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name comes from Thomas and William Whitney, early developers. The village is in the southwestern corner of the town of Triangle and is north of Binghamton.
