Nothing Out Of The Ordinary For Working Cowboys At Colorado Springs' Ranch Rodeo

There's money to be made in ranch rodeo, but it's not enough to make a living. On Saturday, everyday cowboys saddled up and competed in the 2017 Ride for the Brand Championship Ranch Rodeo at the Norris-Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs. The winning team earned $5,000. That's chump change to what riders in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association get. According to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, the average winnings for a first-place event finisher in 2015 was more than $67,000. So what's in it for these ranchers? The events such as ranch-bronc riding, wild cow milking and ranch branding are part of their everyday work.
