Varad Mulay, 13, has been studying for the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. for about 90 minutes per day.Mulay, an eighth-grader at Novi Middle School, does his best to get his regular class work done at school. But most days he has about a half hour of homework on top of his spelling bee preparation.
