The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Northeast Pennsylvania and parts of central New York, including Luzerne and Lackawanna counties. According to the NWS, showers and thunderstorms will develop across the area this afternoon. In Luzerne County, scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible before 3 p.m., with chances growing until thunderstorms are likely after 4 p.m. The NWS says that some of the storms can produce small hail, gusty winds, heavy rain and lightning. Damaging winds are the biggest threat in the storm, but large hail and an isolated tornado are possible.
