WILKES-BARRE — The National Weather Service has issued a variety of severe weather warnings for the area, including a tornado warning for Luzerne County. The tornado warning is in effect until 8:30 tonight. The NWS reported that a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Sugar Notch at 7:58 p.m., moving east at 35 mph. The dangerous storm will be near Edwardsville at around 8:05 p.m., Luzerne near 8:10 p.m., in the Wilkes-Barre area around 8:15 p.m., and the Pittston area around 8:20 p.m. The NWS encourages taking cover immediately, and avoiding windows. A severe thunderstorm warning is also in effect until 8:30 p.m., with 70 mph winds and possible quarter-sized hail.
