Ny Weekly Paper Owner Charged With Fraud, Jailed

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) — The owner of a weekly suburban newspaper has been declared dangerous to society after being charged with falsifying loan applications, committing tax fraud and tampering with witnesses. Zherka pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges that he lied about his assets when applying for loans, failed to file some tax returns, lied on others and tampered with witnesses during the investigation.
