Nypd Officer From Elmont Gets Probation In Head Stomping Case

An NYPD officer from Elmont convicted in April of assault for stomping on the head of a suspect during a public drinking and marijuana arrest was given probation by a Brooklyn judge on Thursday on condition that he quit his job within 24 hours if he isn't fired.

Lopez sent a one-out grounder up the middle off Jorge López (1-1) through a drawn-in infield to score automatic runner Christian Bethancourt from third base, and the last-place Marlins (15-32) stretched their winning streak to a season-best four games.

One dead after car crashes into light pole in Cooper City

One person died after a vehicle struck a light pole in Cooper City late Saturday morning, officials say. The car struck a light pole in the 11800 block of Griffin Road a little after 11 a.m., according to Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael Kane. One person died at the scene, and no one else was transported. Two cars appeared to be severely damaged at the scene Saturday afternoon while Broward Sheriff’s deputies investigated. It is unclear what caused the crash and what happened to the other car and its occupants.
