Obama Goes All In For Science In Weekly Address, Presses For Funding Cures

x YouTube Video Right now we have the chance to put our best minds to work one more time – and in a big way. There’s a bill in Congress that could help unlock cures Alzheimer’s, end cancer as we know it, and help people seeking treatment for opioid addiction finally get the help they need. It’s called the 21st Century Cures Act. It’s an opportunity to save lives, and an opportunity we just can’t miss. Before the dark anti-science ages set in, President Obama used his weekly address this morning to urge passage of a critical bill funding research into some of the deadliest diseases facing Americans today, reminding listeners at the outset, “On the first day of my administration, I promised to restore science to its rightful place.” Given that the popular-vote-losing president now entering office is surrounding himself with science haters, this is a crucial mission.
