Obama hugs Ginsburg ahead of his first State of the Union Address. Linda Davidson/Getty Images Former President Barack Obama said Ruth Bader Ginsburg "fought to the end, through her cancer, with unwavering faith in our democracy and its ideals" in a blog post honoring the late Supreme Court justice. Obama said Ginsburg was a "warrior for gender equality" as well as a "relentless litigator and an incisive jurist." He also argued Republican senators should let the next president fill the vacancy, citing their refusal in 2016 to hold a hearing for Merrick Garland, his nominee to fill the vacancy left by Justice Antonin Scalia. Ginsburg died Friday at the age of 87 due to complications from cancer. Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.
