Jim Inhofe, the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said from the Syrian-Jordanian border on Wednesday that U.S. air strikes against the Islamic State had been helpful and that he was optimistic a coalition of Arab countries would do the heavy lifting to defeat the militant group.
