A Cedar Rapids man who was seen driving 112 miles per hour on I-380 has been arrested on one count of Attempt to Elude and other charges.According to a Linn County complaint, William Atkinson, 25, faces one count of Attempt to Elude, one count of Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of an Alcoholic Beverage and Being a Second Offender, one count of Interference with Official Acts and one count of Providing False Identification.According to the complaint, officers were running stationary radar on I-380 N, near the 29th Street exit, in the early morning hours of Monday when they clocked a vehicle being driven by Atkinson going 112 mph in a 60 mph zone.Officers gave chase with emergency lights and sirens and Atkinson attempted to elude them, based on his speed being more than 25 mph above the speed limit, and drove through several red lights, according to the complaint.Eventually, Atkinson stopped near the Izaak Walton Shooting League, 42nd Street NE, and fled on foot.Officers spoke to a passenger in Atkinson’s vehicle who identified him and admitted that they had been drinking at several bars before the chase, according to the complaint.As the search for Atkinson continued, he called 911 to report his car stolen.
