Saturday is National Fishing and Hunting Day, so ordained by Congress in 1972 when it set the fourth Saturday in September as the annual date to recognize, celebrate and maybe even reflect upon the cultural, social, environmental and economic value of these traditional outdoor activities and the millions of Americans who participate in them.
