Diamonds to the thousands of area hunters who headed into the woods last Monday and came out with nothing but legal game or, at worse, lungs full of fresh air. The stories of hunter mishaps, or worse, of hunter carelessness that lead to injury or tragedy will always get the greater attention, but the truth is that the overwhelming majority of those who hit the woods this first week of deer season were law-abiding, common-sense hunters, who deserve a little recognition for putting safety first. Coal to national (and international) media for mobbing our region after the election.
