Palm Coast Man Charged With Dui In Hit-run Crash

BUNNELL — A Palm Coast man arrested after fleeing the scene of a crash later proved to have blood-alcohol levels nearly three times the legal limit, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.Peter Scherer, 51, of 5 Whittlesey Lane, is charged with driving under the influence with personal injury, leaving the scene of an accident with injury, failure to register a vehicle, driving with suspended license with knowledge, resisting arrest without knowledge and two counts of possession of controlled substance in connection with the incident, according to an arrest report.A road deputy spotted a black Mazda sports coupe speeding away from a crash at East Hampton Drive and Belle Terre Parkway on July 17, the report states.
