The driver initially reported hitting something that ended up breaking the windshield and right side lights of the car, but was unsure if it was a person or animal that was struck. About 20 minutes later, after searching the road, officers found a dead body lying on the right side of the road, CHP reported. Just before 4 a.m., CHP closed all southbound lanes of 101 to investigate the incident, diverting traffic off at the Oyster Point off-ramp.
