Supporters of East Akron Community House on Monday evening submitted to Akron City Council petitions signed by 1,000 people in person or online urging the city to back the agency. The petitioners want to see EACH continue to operate in the building it has occupied for more than 100 years and not be led by another agency, according to Pat Maher, the new vice president of the EACH board.Maher and George Johnson, the new president of the EACH board, spoke during council’s public comment period Monday, just days after an Ohio attorney general investigation was released that found lax oversight and wasteful spending at EACH.
