While visiting the Acropolis in Greece, Lukas Keapproth noticed his fellow tourists were admiring the ancient landmark mostly through the camera lens of their smartphones. Parthenon, Athens, Greece | (Lukas Keapproth) Prague Castle, Prague, Czech Republic | (Lukas Keapproth) "I felt like I was observing this shift in how we travel, how we see travel, and how we want others to see us traveling," Keapproth wrote in an email interview. Whether holding their smartphones at an arm’s length, or posing below extended selfie sticks, the tourists' shared behavior stood out more than the ruins Keapproth had traveled all the way from Austin, Texas, to see.
