Best way to describe Women with Hattitude? Let’s just say it’s like the Kentucky Derby, Ascot and an Easter parade rolled into one. Everyone — and I do mean every single one — of the 650 who gathered at Seawell Ballroom for this noontime fundraiser wore a hat. There were overstated ones, understated ones and others that were just plain pretty, worn by ladies and gents hoping to win one of the seven prizes awarded by a panel of fashion-savvy judges. In the end, the panel that included Kevin Copenhaver, April Jones, Betsy Marr, Davita Vance, Denise Snyder and Judi Wolf picked Deborah Mueller Hruza for Vintage Beauty; Nathalia Fairbault, I Made It Myself; Cyndy Marsh, Fabulous Fascinator; Toni Glynon, High Society; Regan Linton, Wildly Whimsical; Ruby Houston, Exquisitely Elegant; and Diane Foster, Best Derby Hat. Copenhaver is the costume crafts designer for the Denver Center for the Performing Arts; Jones chaired Women with Hattitude in 2017; Marr is the founder and publisher of Reign magazine; Vance is with Macy’s, one of the event’s three platinum sponsors; Snyder owns Mariel, a boutique in Cherry Creek North; and Wolf is a member of the DCPA board of trustees. For 13 years this lunchtime event has raised money for the Women’s Voices Fund at the DCPA.
