Police Investigating 2 Deaths In Fryeburg

Police conducted a manhunt late Monday and are at the scene again today in Fryeburg in connection with the death of two people at separate residences on West Fryeburg Road, police said. The incident started at 4:30 p.m. Monday, said Fryeburg Police Chief Joshua Potvin. Local police called in the Maine State Police tactical team and the major crimes unit and the New Hampshire State Police. Emergency responders closed off West Fryeburg Road for several hours while investigators sought a suspect, Potvin said in a written statement. Police said Tuesday morning they were no longer searching for a suspect and that the situation had been resolved and said they would provide more details later Tuesday morning. Police expect to be on the scene for several hours this morning. The release did not say whether police were seeking someone in connection with both deaths or if one of the dead is a suspect.
