A string of cat killings in the Mayport area is under a cruelty-to-animals investigation by Jacksonville police. A police report detailed the intentional killing of a cat that was found dead about 1:45 p.m. Friday by a resident in the 1200 block of Mayport Landing Road. The report said the cat was apparently shot with a BB gun.
