Former D. C. United midfielder Shawn Kuykendall has died from a rare form of cancer at the age of 32.
United and MLS announced that Kuykendall died early Wednesday from thymic cancer.
After Kuykendall's diagnosis last year, the soccer community rallied around him with the phrase "Kuykenstrong.
Right-hander Nate Adcock was assigned to minor league camp by the Texas Rangers on Wednesday, a day before he is scheduled for surgery to relieve Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, a condition involving compresses nerves, arteries and veins in his right side.
Adcock was 1-4 with a 3.79 ERA with the Kansas City Royals from 2011-12 and spent last season at Triple-A.
The Dallas Cowboys released wide receiver Miles Austin on Wednesday, designating it as a June 1 cut.
By releasing the eight-year veteran, the Cowboys will save about $5.5 million in salary cap space, money they likely will use to sign this year's draft picks.
Austin joined Dallas as an undrafted free agent in 2006.
