By RICK M. GREEN Capitol Bureau rmgreen@oklahoman.comRepublican presidential candidate Ben Carson is coming to Edmond on Oct. 21 for a book-signing event at the Mardel store. Carson, who has been near the top of national polls as he runs for the Republican nomination, will be signing copies of his book, “A More Perfect Union.” His strong support of gun ownership is mentioned in the book, including his linkage of the disarming of German citizens with the killing of 6 million Jews by Adolf Hitler's Nazi regime. The retired neurosurgeon told CNN, “the likelihood of Hitler being able to accomplish his goals would have been greatly diminished if the people had been armed.” He said, “There's a reason that these dictatorial people take the guns first.” Carson stirred criticism recently after the mass shooting at an Oregon community college for saying that he would stand up to a gunman. He is expected to be at the Mardel store in Edmond at 11 a.m Oct.
