Pressure On Obama For Police Reforms

WASHINGTON — Civil rights leaders are pressuring the president to help heal the rift between police and minorities in the wake of the Ferguson, Mo., unrest by stopping the flow of military surplus equipment to cops and passing pending legislation that would impose new anti-racial-profiling rules.“The president can lead. He has to set the national tone,” said Barbara Arnwine, president of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.
