Protests Held For Third Night In Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles saw a third night of protests Wednesday over a decision not to file criminal charges against a Ferguson, Missouri, police officer who shot and killed a black man. Lawyers and police said most of those arrested were being released in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, but a few could be held through the weekend pending scheduled Monday arraignments. James Lafferty, executive director of the Los Angeles chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, said the release process has been going slowly because of the numbers of people and initial efforts to collect the $500 bail and process fingerprints. Lafferty said protesters were escorted by police officers who blocked traffic as they marched through the streets for hours, often stopping in intersections and holding up traffic Monday night and Tuesday afternoon into evening.
