IOWA CITY — A consultant hired by the Board of Regents to review the efficiency of its public universities is suggesting changes that could “affect the organizational structure and staffing levels” at each of the schools.According to information being presented to the board during a special meeting this morning, representatives with Deloitte Consulting LLC say there are “many ways to reduce staffing.” Deloitte Senior Manager Virginia Fraser said universities could use natural attrition and retirements to accomplish suggested staff reductions.“If any of these business cases proceed into implementation, the decision about how to handle any staffing changes would be made by the board and universities,” according to Deloitte documents.
