Rescue Operation Underway In Provo Canyon

A rescue operation was underway Friday morning to get a hiker down from a cliff in Provo Canyon. The hiker called about 11 p.m. Thursday saying he was stranded above Squaw Peak Road, at about 2,000 feet, Utah County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Spencer Cannon said. He said the hiker is not injured but is hungry and thirsty after running out of food and water. Members of a rescue crew began climbing up to the hiker early Friday.
