By Wade Livingston Staff water West Virginia American Water is asking residents to limit their "non-essential water usage" from noon Thursday to noon Friday while repairs continue on a 36-inch water transmission main at an intersection on Charleston's West Side where a sinkhole opened up on May 18.In a statement, West Virginia American said customers "may experience discolored water due to changes in water flows during repairs." The transmission main supplies water to a large number of West Virginia American's customers in Kanawha and Putnam counties, and it will have to be "briefly taken out of service" so repairs can commence, according to the company.
