Rockaway Playland may be long gone, but youngsters now have a new play space that pays homage to the fabled amusement park. Skee-Ball, a climbing wall and a Ferris wheel-styled jungle gym are some of the attractions at the revamped Beach Channel Playground on Beach 79th St., which officially opened Friday.
