Boy Scout Troop 378 traveled to the Porcupine Mountains in the Upper Peninsula earlier this month for a six-day hiking "high adventure." The next day, on July 12, Gov. Rick Snyder declared a state of disaster in the area after a storm that included an EF1 tornado and 13 hours of steady rain caused flash flooding.
