(AP) — The writer Salman Rushdie, who gained international fame with the publication of his book The Satanic Verses in 1988 and then was threatened with death for allegedly blaspheming Islam, is set to pay a visit to Vermont in January. The Vermont Humanities Council is planning to host Rushdie as part of its First Wednesdays cultural series.
