Sanford Health has withdrawn from a potential merger with Fairview Health Services of Minnesota. Fairview is a consortium of eight hospitals, including University of Minnesota Medical Centers. But news of merger talks between Sanford and Fairview sparked a backlash from the UM and from Minnesota state officials.
