WARWICK, R.I. -- After rumors circulated Wednesday that unionized teachers were planning to call in sick to protest stalled contract negotiations, schools were open as usual on Thursday morning, school officials said.As of 7 a.m., 83 teachers had called in sick, according to Catherine Bonang, secretary to Superintendent Philip Thornton.
