WASHINGTON _ Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer walked around Capitol Hill with a little extra swagger in his step Wednesday in the wake of Doug Jones’ Alabama Senate-seat upset win over embattled Republican Roy Moore. But Schumer’s first flex of new-found muscle _ calling on Senate Republicans to delay a vote on the GOP tax bill until Jones can be sworn in _ landed with a thud.Congressional Republicans and President Donald Trump announced that GOP negotiators had reached an agreement on resolving differences between already-passed House and Senate versions of the tax bill, clearing the way for Trump’s signature before Jones arrives in Washington.``Congress has reached an agreement on tax legislation that will deliver more jobs, higher wages, and massive tax relief for American families and for American companies,’’ Trump said at tax event at the White House.
