Scrutiny for all-cash home sales; Facebook birthday videos The company said Wednesday that sales declined 2.6 percent at established locations for the three months that ended July 3 as customer visits dropped. The federal Financial Crimes Enforcement Network is temporarily requiring title insurance companies in six regions — one of them comprising San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties — to identify the people behind shell companies that pay cash for high-end homes. The network said in a news release that several similar transactions already found in the Manhattan and Miami areas have been linked to money laundering and other criminal activities, so it is expanding the program. Facebook users now may get a surprise a day after their birthdays: a 45-second custom video that includes some of the top photos and posts they received or were tagged in.
