With its 2003 album, “Wintersongs,” the women’s chorus Kitka explored a repertoire of music suited for the colder parts of the year (assuming you don’t live in California, that is). It featured Christmas and Hanukkah music from Bulgaria, Ukraine, Latvia and elsewhere. Now, to the delight of patient fans, the group has prepared a sequel, “Evening Star,” which promises a wide array of songs in Greek, Yiddish, Serbian and many another language. Kitka plans to celebrate the new release with its annual “Wintersongs” holiday program, which includes a show in Oakland and San Francisco, where the group will put its wonderfully astringent harmonies and dexterous vocal blends into service for the holiday.
