(WASHINGTON) — The Senate has approved a bill to ensure full funding of the Homeland Security Department for one week, sending the measure to the House just hours before the agency faces a partial shutdown. By voice vote late Friday, the Senate backed the bill. It came a few hours after the House, in a surprise move, rejected a bill to grant the department a three-week extension.
