Seth Carey, a former Republican candidate for district attorney and Auburn lawyer, has been accused of practicing law without a license. The Sun Journal reports that Carey, 44, of Rumford on Wednesday entered a not guilty plea through his attorney, James Howaniec of Lewiston. The charges stem from an investigation by the Maine attorney general’s office, which alleged in a complaint that Carey practiced law or represented himself as a lawyer from April to Nov.
